Allen Banks Creative Macro Photography Workshop – 29th April 2018
Join Jason Friend on a creative macro photography workshop, concentrating on close-up flower and nature photography and the wonders of the macro world.
The workshop is based in the picturesque Allan Banks and Staward Gorge estate (managed by the National Trust) in the picturesque Tynedale region of Northumberland. The estate is home to the largest expanse of native woodland in Northumberland and is renown for the variety of flora and fauna to be found there, making it the perfect location to discuss and explore the delights of macro photography.
The workshop will begin with learning how to understand your camera and the choice of various in-camera settings to capture pure-record shots of species. From there we will discuss backgound blur (bokeh) and the creative benefits of using it in your compositions. Throughout the day we will continue the background theme as we discuss how to create a pure black background by using only one flash gun before finishing the lesson with a look at using two flash guns and a sheet of white plastic to create a field studio.
The workshop will begin at 10AM and finish at 4PM. The flexible approach of the 6 hour day and the small group size of only 6 participants will ensure that everyone will have plenty of one-on-one time with Jason.
