One of the joys of smartphones (and tablets) is the sheer range of apps that can be used to enhance photos. One of the most popular is Snapseed, which is available for both iOS and Android – and is free on both systems. How far you want to push your photos is a matter of taste, but Snapseed is powerful enough to cope with even extreme alterations. An alternative is Hipstamatic (iOS only) that takes a different approach – you alter your photos to match the results from a range of film cameras and film types. It is also free, though you can buy extra packs that expand the number of cameras and film types you can choose from.
